We offer an online marketplace to ethical stores and brands to showcase their eco friendly products and services – all in one convenient location. Think of Sustainable Marketplace as the town square of days long gone – where you can find everything you need, including expert advice, in the one spot. To make it even easier, you can pay for all the items in your cart in one single transaction, even if you’re buying products from different sellers. Once your payment has been processed and you receive your order confirmation, the products will be shipped by the individual sellers.
Given we call ourselves Sustainable Marketplace, that is an important question, thank you for asking! There are many ways to approach the need to work towards a more sustainable future. At Sustainable Marketplace we support the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals because they “Are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.” (quote taken from the United Nations website: un.org).
In a practical sense, these are some of the questions we ask about products, services, events, and experiences advertised on our website:
Our aim is to have all the products and services on the website tick as many of these as possible. But we’re not perfect. If you come across any advertisements on the website that you think do not follow these principles, please let us know. Contact us at email@example.com
Sustainable Marketplace is not an eco store. We don’t sell any products ourselves, but offer an online platform for stores, brands, and private sellers to advertise their eco friendly products and services; and where you can browse and explore or make purchases.
We are an online marketplace and don’t have any stores as such that you can visit. However, some of the stores who advertise on Sustainable Marketplace have ‘bricks & mortar’ shops as well as their online store. You can find this sort of information on the store’s product pages.
We are a new Sydney based company who strongly believe in working together with other eco friendly organisations to amplify our shared message and help make sustainability the norm. Read our story here.
No, not yet. We are a fairly new company and until now we’ve concentrated on getting our website just right so you can use it on your computer as well as your mobile device. A Sustainable Marketplace app is on our wish list though, so stay tuned…
Sustainable Marketplace is not a store as such but an online platform for shops and service providers to advertise and sell their products. However, while you can’t pick up from us, some sellers on the marketplace do have physical stores and may offer a ‘Click & Collect’ option. You can find delivery or Click & Collect information on the product page for your order.
Absolutely, but only if you see the Click & Collect button displayed on the product page. If the button is not displayed Click & Collect is not an option. If you Click & Collect, it is the seller’s responsibility to let you know when your order is ready to collect. Make sure you have the correct details of the seller’s store and bring photo id and your payment receipt when you pick up your order. More information on ‘Click & Collect’ can be found in our Shipping & Delivery Policy and our Terms and Conditions.
Delivery fees are set by the sellers on Sustainable Marketplace. Any information on shipping and delivery, such as delivery times and fees, can be found on the individual product pages. Generally, delivery charges depend on the size and weight of an order, if applicable the speed of the delivery (for example express or standard post), and the fees charged by the shipping company.
That is certainly possible. When you shop at Sustainable Marketplace and order products from multiple stores on our website, you can conveniently pay for all of them in one check out transaction. We process your payment and confirm your order, which will then be fulfilled by the seller - either by delivering to your nominated address or by confirming when your order is ready to Click & Collect. If you order from different sellers, or if the store you ordered from ships from different locations, you will receive more than one parcel in the mail.
That’s a great question! We don’t ship your order; it is the seller’s responsibility to pack and ship their products. So unfortunately, we can’t give you a watertight guarantee that all your orders will arrive in sustainable packaging only. However, we wouldn’t call ourselves Sustainable Marketplace if we didn’t encourage all our sellers to use sustainable packaging, that is: made of re-usable, recyclable, or compostable materials. Please let us know if you come across non-sustainable packaging so we can get in touch with the seller.
Sustainable Marketplace is not a store and we don’t sell any products ourselves. We are a marketplace operator, offering a one stop shop for buyers and sellers to come together in the one location. Before you place an order on our website, please familiarise yourself with the seller’s returns and refund policy, which can be found on their product page. If you need any further information, contact the seller directly. For more information on the role of Sustainable Marketplace, read our Returns and Refunds Policy, which is part of our Terms and Conditions.
It is up to the seller of your order whether they allow returns or refunds for change of mind. We are the website operators and as such are not a party to the contract between you and the seller. We recommend you always read the seller’s terms and conditions and return and refund policy so you know what you can expect.
We are proud of the ethical, sustainable businesses who advertise on our website and, where applicable, their products should all be cruelty free and vegan. However, we advise you to thoroughly read the description or specification of any product you are interested in buying and to contact the seller directly if you have any questions about the product.
If you can’t find a product on Sustainable Marketplace, it might be available through some of the advertisers’ own stores or websites. We work hard to offer the broadest possible catalogue on our website, so if you can’t find a product on the site, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will pass on your enquiry to the shopkeepers on the site.
You certainly can! Selling and buying second-hand goods is a very sustainable thing to do and you are most welcome to advertise your gear on Sustainable Marketplace! Please note that you are responsible for the shipping and delivery of your gear. Read about our advertising fees and guidelines here.
Absolutely, yes! When we started Sustainable Marketplace we first and foremost wanted to become a place for knowledge sharing, so naturally we welcome anyone wanting to contribute to our blog. Why don’t you contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know a little bit more about yourself and your ideas. We’re looking forward to hearing from you soon!
